About Sharon Riches, Counsellor and Hypnotherapist in Maidstone, Kent

When looking for a therapist I understand that you want to meet with someone who “gets you”. Someone that has had their own life experiences as well as a wealth of training.  You want to be able to trust someone who can work with you to find solutions to any problems you may have.

I am Sharon and I live in Maidstone, Kent, I live with my family and Cavapoo dog called Gavin ….. not my choice of name!

Here is a little bit about me, along with some of my qualifications and registrations.

I have been helping people for a very long time and after seeing a loved one go through a very bad time with their mental health, I decided I wanted to do more to help others.  I trained as an Integrative Counsellor and Hypnotherapist. This has enabled me to use my training together with my own experiences to help you to heal yourself.

I understand how it feels to have a loved one that self-harms and how powerless it can make you feel.  I know how anxiety can cripple you and stop you from going about your daily tasks.  Depression can keep you housebound or even bedbound, stopping you from having the life that you deserve.

I have extensive experience of supporting those with grief and loss, be it through bereavement or loss of any kind.  Such as a loss through divorce, friendship, physical abilities due to disease or sudden injury.  Dealing with a terminal illness diagnosis and supporting you to make arrangements for the future and your loved ones. I also have experience in working on an adult acute psychiatric unit as well as a hospice, in addition to voluntary work with Mind and Cruse Bereavement Care.

If Counselling isn’t for you, have you thought about Hypnotherapy?  The beauty of Hypnotherapy is that if you do not want to talk about your problems you don’t have to.  Hypnotherapy is relaxing and can give you tools help relieve your anxiety or other problems that may be troubling you.  It can be used together with counselling to help increase positive outcomes.

Registrations

I am on the voluntary register, which has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

The Professional Standards Authority accredit a voluntary register of counsellors and psychotherapists. In order to be accredited, organisations that hold voluntary registers must prove that they meet the demanding standards set out by the PSA.

This is done to improve standards of counselling and psychotherapy for the benefit of the public, and so you can choose to use people that have been independently assessed and approved. Registrants must meet high professional standards which enhances safety and ensures a high-quality service is delivered.
