Hypnotherapy FAQ’S

Do I need to be referred by a GP or other Health Professional?

No, not at all, you can self-refer at any time.

Will I be under the control of the Hypnotherapist?

You will be in complete control whilst under Hypnosis, you will not do or say anything that you do not want to.  You will always be aware of your surroundings and will be able to hear my voice and respond.

Will I be able to drive after hypnotherapy?

Yes, ample time is allocated for you to reorientate  yourself back to your surroundings.  Grounding techniques are also used to ensure you are fully in the present.

Can you guarantee a cure?

Everyone is different, I will not make promises or claims that this works, all I can say is that people who have come to see me have had brilliant results. There is no such thing as a hypno miracle, it depends on your commitment and your willingness to change.

Will I be made to perform embarrassing acts, such as cluck like a chicken?

Definitely not, this is based on Stage Hypnotism, these people volunteer to act on stage allow themselves to participate in silly suggestions. Hypnotherapy is therapy not entertainment.

If I become Hypnotised, I may not be able to snap out of it?

Hypnosis is very safe and is in fact, a state of hyper-awareness. Any time there is an emergency, a person would naturally be able to come out of the Hypnotic state by opening their eyes, and stretching or speaking. In fact during the rewind technique and responsive hypnosis you will be responding to my questions I ask you.

I have never been in Hypnosis before, will I be able to go into hypnosis?

Everybody naturally enters a state of hypnosis at least twice everyday: just before falling asleep at night, and upon awaking every morning, before getting out of bed. Most people easily enter 'Environmental Hypnosis' while at the cinema, watching TV, driving or while reading a good book.

When Hypnotised, will I will lose all sense of my surroundings and have no memory of the session?

No, hypnosis is not an unconscious state of sleep if you are asleep you are not in hypnosis.  Most people report having a heightened sense of awareness, concentration and focus, and can even hear more acutely during a session.

Is your therapy room private?

Absolutely. Our meetings are in the strictest confidence in my therapy room on the side of my house with a  separate entrance, there will be no interruptions.
